IHG to Open “Zero-Energy” Hotel Indigo at Singapore Changi Airport, Featuring Floating Forests

Changi Airport, zero-energy,

Changi Airport announces a pioneering zero-energy Hotel Indigo, setting new standards in sustainable airport hospitality.

Singapore Changi Airport is set to expand its hospitality offerings with the introduction of a new and innovative accommodation option, the Hotel Indigo Changi Airport. This hotel, slated to be integrated into Terminal 2, marks a significant step in sustainable development, being heralded as Singapore’s first zero-energy hotel and potentially the first of its kind at any airport globally.

The hotel will boast 255 rooms and offer direct access to the terminal via a dedicated walkway. Its design focuses heavily on eco-friendly features, such as solar panels, a hybrid cooling system, natural ventilation in corridors, and advanced rainwater harvesting technology. A standout architectural feature will be the ‘Floating Forest’—a multi-level garden with rainforest elements and hanging plants adorning its seven-story façade.

Projected to open its doors by 2028, the hotel will replace the current Terminal 2 Coach Stand. Guests will be able to enjoy luxurious amenities, including a rooftop day club, a bar, and an infinity pool, providing an elevated experience with stunning airport views.

Hotel Indigo Changi Airport will complement the existing landside hotels at Changi Airport, including the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport and YOTELAIR Singapore Changi Airport, as well as the airport’s transit hotels like Aerotel Singapore, Ambassador Transit Hotel, and the JetQuay Sleeping Suite. This expansion is poised to enhance Changi Airport’s reputation as a premier air travel hub enriched with exceptional passenger services.
