Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India and Hoteliers Club Srinagar Forge New Alliances to Boost J&K Tourism


 

The Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), in collaboration with its associated partner HRANI, hosted a landmark Stakeholders’ Meet on May 3, 2024, at the Radisson Collection Hotel & Spa in Srinagar. The event was designed to foster innovative partnerships, facilitate policy advocacy, and boost tourism development in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

The meet drew key figures from the tourism and hospitality sectors and provided a critical platform for initiating discussions on employment, economic prosperity, and inclusive growth in Jammu & Kashmir. The goal was to advance the region’s tourism sector and explore collaborative opportunities for comprehensive growth. A significant highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between FHRAI and the Hoteliers Club Srinagar, focusing on policy advocacy, networking, and government liaison to promote tourism in the area.

A standout moment of the event was when FHRAI presented the Hospitality Excellence Award to Mr. Mushtaq Chaya, CMD of Mushtaq Group of Hotels and Chairman of the Hoteliers Club Srinagar. The award recognized Mr. Chaya’s outstanding contributions to the hospitality sector in Jammu & Kashmir, and was presented by the Chief Guest, Mr. Vikramjit Singh.

Mr. Pradeep Shetty, President of FHRAI said, “FHRAI is dedicated to advocating for the
growth and development of the tourism industry in Jammu & Kashmir. Our upcoming
Hospitality Investors Summit in J & K will provide an excellent platform for leading brands
and hospitality entrepreneurs to explore investable projects and learn about the
government’s investor-friendly policies. We also invite all stakeholders to participate in the

54th Annual Convention of FHRAI, where we will continue our discussions on promoting
tourism and fostering partnerships in the hospitality sector.”

The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government of Jammu & Kashmir’s Industries & Commerce Department. Other distinguished guests included Mr. Raja Yaqoob Farooq, Director of the Tourism Department, Govt of J & K, Mr. Baldev Prakash, MD & CEO of J & K Bank, Mr. Mohammed A. Shah, Director of the Department of Handicrafts & Handlooms, Govt of J & K, along with several prominent figures from the hotel and tourism sectors.

The Stakeholders’ Meet marked a pivotal step in revitalizing the tourism sector in Jammu & Kashmir, focusing on creating new opportunities and partnerships that will foster sustainable growth and prosperity in the region.
